04 — The Powder Room Excess,
concentrated.
Excess, concentrated.
Permission to misbehave.
If there's one room where good taste can afford to have a little fun, it's the powder room. An opportunity to be expressive, unexpected and perhaps just a touch extravagant. After all, nobody spends enough time in here to get tired of it.
A powder room can get away
with almost anything.
So we took advantage. Pattern, terrazzo, high gloss and a little theatrical lighting make the smallest room in the house one of the most immersive.
A chain chandelier in a powder room is a commitment.
Cascading brass, dropped from a gilded ceiling, scaled for a dining room and hung in a space you visit for ninety seconds.
That is the point.
A natural curiosity.
Carved from petrified wood, the basin is part natural history, part functional sculpture. Its organic shape and richly patterned surface contrast with the polished vanity beneath it, while an unlacquered brass faucet adds the finishing touch.
It's not exactly shy.
