06 — Laundry / Sauna Ulterior
motives.
Ulterior motives.
More than meets the eye.
Some of the best spaces in a home aren't the obvious ones. What could have been purely functional becomes something far more enjoyable, with a few unexpected pleasures woven into the everyday. A reminder that even the most hardworking rooms deserve a little imagination.
Practicality, with other intentions.
Dark green oak, honed stone and terrazzo give the laundry room a little more character than strictly necessary. It's designed to handle the everyday, but there's no reason the everyday can't look this good.
Technically, it's the laundry room. It also happens to be the way to the sauna and hot tub, which changes things considerably.
A little wild, by nature.
Silver Crocodile stone brings a rich, almost leather-like pattern to the countertops. Its shifting shades of grey add depth to the dark green cabinetry, while unlacquered brass introduces a warmer note that will only get better with time.
Priorities were established early. The dog bowls are built directly into the stone because, let's be honest, we know who matters most.
Things improve considerably from here.
Behind the glass door, a cedar-lined sauna looks out through a five-foot picture window toward the hot tub. The deck is just outside. Laundry was never going to be the main attraction.
Meet you in the sauna.
